We’re excited to share that Stahla Services was back on Enterprise Radio with host Eric Dye! This time, our Co-owner, Grant Stahla, focused on a crucial aspect of worksite management: providing high-quality Shower Trailer Rentals to keep Kansas City construction sites comfortable and productive.

At Stahla Services, we understand the importance of excellent facilities for hardworking crews. If you missed the insightful conversation, we’ve gathered all the key takeaways Grant shared about the growing necessity and benefits of shower trailers in the Kansas City area.

The Essential Role of Shower Trailers on KC Construction Sites

Eric Dye began by asking why shower trailers are becoming so vital on Kansas City construction projects. Grant explained the evolving landscape:

“Kansas City construction sites get bigger and bigger… sometimes we have construction workers that are staying on site. You might have a specialized project, something like a data center or a big facility remodel that you have to fly people in from all over the US.” For these workers, who might be in campers or bunkhouses, “having a shower trailer there for your employees is crucial.”

He also highlighted scenarios like facility remodels: “If you redo a meatpacking plant or a big… meat production facility, dog food production facility in Kansas City, there’s going to be locker room… and that’s a vital part of cleaning off and going home for the day or going into that clean work environment clean. So that’s where shower trailers come in.”

Tailoring Shower Trailers for Kansas City’s Climate & Worker Needs

Grant emphasized Stahla Services’ commitment to site-specific solutions: “If you rent a shower trailer from us… we’re definitely going to set it up, to support whatever that sites needs are and then also the location.”

Key considerations for Kansas City include:

  • Climate Control: “If you’re in Kansas City, we’re going to make sure that we have those air conditioners working.”
  • Power Requirements: Shower trailers typically need “either three or four connections to power.” This supports A/C units, water pumps (for consistent high-flow to all shower heads), and instant water heaters (two per trailer for continuous hot water).
  • Proximity to Power: “We can be up to a few 100 feet up to 300 feet away from the power source, but the closer we are, the better… We use big electrical cord so that that power can move freely.”

This meticulous approach ensures the trailers function optimally, providing a comfortable experience regardless of external conditions.

Key Oversight: Construction Managers & Site Sanitation

When asked about common mistakes construction managers make, Grant pointed to a few critical areas:

  • Insufficient Stall Count: “A big thing is just making sure that you have enough shower stalls for people… If it’s a big food processing facility and you have 2000 people, you know, we might need one shower head per 20 people. It kind of depends on if we’re doing one shift, two shifts, or three shifts.”
  • Wastewater Management: “Having access to a water main to be able to drain off the gray water… is going to be a big deal. Ideally we have a location… within 50 feet of a sewer main.”
  • Permitting: “A lot of times you have to get a permit to be able to drain directly into that sewer line… working on that ahead of time… it’s just shower water. So it’s usually not an issue getting that permit.”

Addressing these points proactively ensures smooth operations and compliance. Alongside shower trailers, consider the need for standard restroom trailers and ADA restroom trailers for comprehensive site sanitation.

Serving Surrounding Areas: St. Joseph, Overland Park & Beyond

Stahla Services’ commitment extends beyond Kansas City proper. Grant mentioned, “We definitely enjoy serving St. Joe and Overland Park, Leawood, KS., Raytown, Atchison, definitely all the areas around Kansas City.”

How they achieve this:

  • Ready Inventory: “We have restroom trailers and shower trailers, Handicap accessible trailers ready to go. We make sure the inventory is clean and fixed and ready to go so that when we get that call… we’re able to support them.”
  • Knowledgeable Team: “Having really knowledgeable employees at Stahla Services to help talk about the power needs… the water needs, the location… and maybe some of the code requirements. That’s such a big deal.”
  • Proximity: Being strategically located allows for quick deployment to various locations.

Improving Worker Retention with Superior Site Facilities

Eric Dye posed an important question about how better facilities can impact worker retention. Grant responded, “If you’re gonna have locker rooms at your facility and then you… do a remodel of those locker rooms, you have to get shower trailers. You have to be able to supply showers to the workers.”

He stressed the quality Stahla Services provides: “We have one level that is a level that works 100% of the time. It is aesthetically pleasing. And when you’re in there, it’s not gross. It’s clean, everything works. It’s a fresh and clean environment.”

Whether it’s a locker room remodel, a large construction project with on-site housing, or a facility requiring pre-entry showering, “you need a shower trailer. It’s just one of those things.” Grant invited listeners to reach out: “Whether you get it from us at Stahla Services or someone else, we would love to chat with you about some of the details.”

We thank Eric Dye and Enterprise Radio for another great discussion. Providing excellent on-site facilities isn’t just a requirement; it’s an investment in your workforce’s well-being and productivity.
