We’re excited to share that Stahla Services was back on the airwaves with Eric Dye on the Enterprise Radio (EPN) podcast! Our Co-owner, Grant Stahla, joined the discussion to shed light on how we serve diverse regions, specifically focusing on our operations and experiences in the Heartland and Rockies, including key hubs like Omaha, Kansas City, and Denver.

It’s always a privilege to discuss how we provide premium comfort and hassle-free restroom and shower trailer solutions tailored to the specific demands of different locales. If you couldn’t tune in, we’ve got you covered with all the key insights Grant shared.

What We Discussed: Tailoring Services for the Heartland & Rockies

Eric Dye kicked things off by asking Grant about the differences in rental needs across key cities like Omaha, Kansas City, and Denver. Grant emphasized the joy and strategy involved in serving these distinct areas. “Yeah, it’s really fun. We’re able to bring these luxury restroom trailers and shower trailers to all sorts of locations, but Omaha, NE, Kansas City and Denver are three of our favorite ones. Each area has its own strategy.”

The Unique Vibe of Each Hub: Omaha, Kansas City, and Denver

Grant painted a vivid picture of how service delivery adapts to local character and geography:

  • Denver – Mountain Majesty: “In Denver, you know when we’re bringing restroom trailers out to a wedding, a lot of times it’s going to be up in a mountain… We’re pulling these luxury restroom trailers… up that mountain… and we just need to make sure that it’s gonna be heaters on that so it’s warm enough.” Imagine a picturesque mountaintop vineyard wedding, enhanced by the comfort of our high-quality trailers, complete with Bluetooth stereos.
  • Kansas City – Rolling Hills & Rich Culture: “If you imagine doing the same thing in Kansas City. We’re going to a vineyard… it might be a horse barn in a Kansas City or Missouri area. There’s a lot of beautiful rolling hills.” The experience might be a wedding for 200-300 people in a charming barn, surrounded by a different, yet equally beautiful, landscape. And, of course, “Kansas City, has its own Chiefs vibe, whether you like them or not!”
  • Omaha – Downtown Dynamics & Midwest Charm: “You might be in downtown Omaha at a big downtown building.” While perhaps more urban, Omaha presents its own distinct needs for events and job sites.

Grant summarized, “Each area has its own vibe, has its own culture… when we’re bringing a restroom trailer or shower trailer for the job site to these locations, we are making sure that we are able to serve each community uniquely.”

Adapting to Diverse Regional Demands: Real-World Solutions in Action

Eric Dye then asked how rental businesses can effectively adapt to these regional demands. Grant stressed the importance of understanding specific customer needs: “We definitely just try to understand what the customer need is. So when each area is going to have its own unique problems, we’re gonna adapt.”

Here are some powerful examples Grant shared:

  • Denver – Compassion in the Cold: “In Denver, we’re working with the city and County of Denver to help support the migrant and homeless population… for when it might be below 10° below 20° out and we’ll have a restroom trailer and a shower trailer that we rent them… It’s heated and it has a sound system going and we have running water so they’re able to take a hot shower when it’s really cold out.”
  • Kansas City – Keeping Businesses Open & Comfortable: “In Kansas City we… supported people for the Union. The Union Station has been shut down for a little while and we’re able to bring restroom trailers there… we’re able to support it when their bathroom shuts down… It might be hot and humid… and we’re able to turn that air conditioning on and same Bluetooth sound system.”
  • Omaha – Supporting Major Events: “In Omaha, NE a unique thing is the College World Series… we bring about 10 restroom trailers to different tailgates and we’re able to provide a good relief from the crowds… we’re able to help out in Omaha, NE for restroom trailer rentals.”

“It’s a lot of fun,” Grant concluded on this topic. “Each area has its own different unique characteristics. But we have a blast kind of adapting to each one.”

Considering Our Services for Your Region? Let’s Talk!

Going the Extra Mile: Reaching Communities Like Springfield, Sioux City, and Cheyenne

The conversation then shifted to how Stahla Services extends its reach from these hubs to surrounding areas. “Those are smaller towns and areas we love to go to,” Grant enthused.

  • Mobile & Ready: “We’re able to hook these onto our pickups. We have one ton pickups and basically it’s called a A2 ton pickup. It’s F550. And we’re able to pull these anywhere you want anywhere in the nation.”
  • Cheyenne Frontier Days: “They bring in over 40,000 people… So we bring a shower trailer and are able to support people as they’re camping out… And it’s hot and sweaty and you need somewhere to rinse off and feel clean.”
  • Springfield, NE Data Centers: This area is a hub for major tech companies. “We have lots of trailers out at these data centers supporting all of the workers… they have a heated restroom trailer where they’re able to go in there and have a nice 70° stall when it’s -10° out… we’re able to provide restrooms at different points in the construction zone so that it they don’t have to take their side by sides or utvs a mile away.”

Grant’s Insights: Scaling a Service Business Across Regions

Eric asked for a key tip on scaling a service business, and Grant shared valuable lessons from over a decade of experience with his wife, Erin.

  • It’s a Journey: “Scaling something across the nation or across the Midwest is a noble venture. It’s something we don’t have perfectly figured out.”
  • The Stahla Way – Keys to Success:
    • Incredible Employee Culture: This is foundational.
    • Consistent Results: “When you go to McDonald’s, when you go to Chick-fil-A, you know what you’re gonna get… that’s something with Stahla Services. We wanna provide consistent good results. We wanna have good value and a good experience.”
    • Your Own Defined Process: “For us, it’s called the Stahla way. Have your own way where you are able to treat your customers consistently.”

Grant’s advice for others looking to scale, especially in the restroom or shower trailer rental industry, is to “work on providing consistent results and working that with your employees.”
