Mobile Restroom Trailer Footprint and Setting

Architectural blueprint of a building's shower and dressing areas.

A question that is sometimes asked when looking for a mobile restroom trailer is: will it fit where I want it parked, and how will it get there?

In this article, the different sizes of each mobile restroom trailer will be listed. Total length will be from the back of the trailer, all the way to the hitch on the tongue. The width will represent the total measurement with the stairs out. ADA handicap ramps add to the foot print substantially so the total area will be included for those types of trailers. Finally, the height will include to the top of the A/C units in case a restroom trailer has to be parked indoors.

Special Considerations

Trucks deliver restroom trailers by backing them up to a location, or pulling through. Technicians use trailer dollies to maneuver restroom trailers in tight situations. Trucks can drive on grass; however, they are heavy and heavy precipitation will cause rutting.

Consider what sides the doors are on. If you’re standing at the hitch, the doors will be on the left side of the trailer and sometimes on the back. This is important to consider because people need room to step onto the stairs, and you would not want them exiting out onto a street. The ground must be relatively level as well. Jacks and chalks are used to level and secure the trailer, but they can’t be placed on steeper gradients. When in doubt, send a photo for verification.
