Description

The Head of Organizational Development & HR is responsible for designing, strengthening, and scaling the people side of Stahla. This role blends strategic HR leadership with organizational development — building systems, coaching leaders, managing performance frameworks, and ensuring every team member experiences clarity, support, and accountability.

This leader will drive company-wide people initiatives, partner closely with regional operations leaders, and architect a culture of high ownership and drive engagement across all levels of the organization.

 Essential Job Functions

  • Own the full talent strategy — recruiting, interviewing, job descriptions, and hiring frameworks.
  • Work directly with leaders and external recruiters to source top-tier talent.
  • Build scalable onboarding systems for all roles.
  • Ensure 30-60-90 day plans are disciplined, clear, and consistent across all locations.
  • Build Stahla’s leadership development roadmap for each role.
  • Own and advance the EOS-aligned systems (Trimester Conversations, Scorecards, A-player frameworks).
  • Facilitate skill-building, workshops, and leadership coaching.
  • Build career pathing and succession planning for key roles.
  • Lead all HR operations across multiple states (NE, CO, KS, etc.).
  • Oversee onboarding, I-9 compliance, payroll coordination (with Finance), and state/local HR requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to update handbooks, compensation bands, policies, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage employee relations with humility, clarity, and fairness.
  • Strengthen and systemize company-wide training programs (Ops Training, CDL pathways, safety, culture onboarding, etc.).
  • Support performance conversations, coaching plans, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead culture initiatives: recognition programs, surveys, offsites, values reinforcement, and team communication cadence.
  • Partner with the Leadership Team on org structure design, staffing plans, and team health.
    Provide data and insights on turnover, recruiting trends, performance patterns, and organizational needs.
  • Anticipate growth challenges and proactively build systems to support scale.
  • Serve as a trusted voice in strategic organizational decisions.

Within 12 months, this leader will have:

  • Built a clear leadership development path for managers and future leaders.
  • Created consistent onboarding and training programs for all roles.
  • Strengthened hiring systems and reduced failed hires.
  • Solidified policies, compliance, and HR documentation.
  • Carried forward Stahla’s culture through clarity, communication, and alignment.
  • Developed predictable, repeatable people systems that support a multi-region operation.

Preferred Talents 

  • 4+ years in HR, Organizational Development, People Leadership, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting multi-location or field-based teams (preferred).
  • Proven ability to build systems, coach leaders, and scale people processes.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, recruiting, and performance management.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate conflict with grace.

  • Ability to travel to shops as needed.
  • High attention to detail, excellent organization, and strong time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tech literate: Comfortable using CRMs, spreadsheets, digital communication tools, and logistics platforms.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Must have access to and be able to use phone, computer, internet connection, and email.
  • Ability to handle multiple computer programs, systems, and communication tools simultaneously.
  • Fast-paced and dynamic client and vendor communication environment.

Hours

  • General workday is 8AM-4PM
  • Weekend work included as needed
